Using an acid spotter to clean your pool!

Acid spotter is very useful because you are able to distribute acid in heavy duty strength to a stain at the bottom of a swimming pool. It is a convenient method because it utilizes a bottle of muriatic acid which sits on the deck or ground near the pool, and a small hose is run from the bottle of muriatic acid to the telepole which has attached to it a small disc shaped device which carries the acid to the surface of the stain. Acid is drained into the disc where it comes in direct contact with the stain. This process is very time consuming and is not a routine procedure. It may need to be done if the pool has been unattended for a period of time and has not been properly maintained. This may occur during the winter months if the pool was neglected. Then when the warmer months begin, people want to use their pool and need to take tougher steps than normal to clean it.

Debris such as leaves may stain the plaster, but usually bleach out with chlorine used over a period of several days. However there are stains which cannot be routinely removed, such as those which may corrode from beneath the pool floor. In this instance, the acid spotter would probably be needed. This process will most likely remove browning and some chemical type stains. Alkali residues are neutralized with this process and is used to remove the browning on the surface of the pool and to help prevent it from browning.
