Booster pumps
A booster pump
system is an automatic pool cleaner. With this type of system, the
water goes through the filter and heater. The system then takes that
water and pressurizes it by taking it through a separate motor or
pump. A cleaner roams the pool as the goes through hoses into that
cleaner.
Booster pump systems consist of two types: the sweep head type and
the vacuum head type.
The sweep head type has long bendable arms that sweep along the
walls and bottom of the pool and stirs up the debris as the unit
floats on top of the water. Dirt is skimmed into a basket, which
fits over the main drain catches the debris that has been stirred
up. Then the main drain or the skimmer catches the stirred up
debris.
The vacuum head booster pump works similar to a vacuum cleaner,
which contains a bag that catches and collects the dirt and debris.
Pressurized water from the booster pump goes into the vacuum through
the stem while some water goes out through the tail.
The Booster pump systems are of two styles. The first is called a
vacuum head type which has its own bag for collecting debris, much
like a vacuum cleaner. The other type is the sweep head type that
floats on top of the water with long flexible arms that swirl along
the walls and bottom, stirring up the debris. A special basket is
fitted over the main drain so that the stirred-up debris is caught
in either the main drain or the skimmer and any fine dirt is
filtered out normally.
