Cartridge
filter information
In a cartridge
filter the water flows into a tank which contains one or more
cylinder shaped cartridges that have fine mesh material. The tight
mesh fabric is able to strain out the impurities from the water.
It is very easy to set up a cartridge filter. Read the instructions
first, of course. Basically all you do is to put in the filter
cartridge, (being careful to follow the instructions), then start up
the circulation mechanism. You may also use a flocculating agent for
cartridge filters. A flocculating agent is a chemical substance,
such as alum and is used to clump together floating particles, into
a heavy group. It can then be trapped by the filter or can sink to
the bottom of the pool where it can be vacuumed.
It is very simple to clean the cartridge because all you have to do
is remove the cartridge, then wash it and put it back in the filter.
A process to follow with all types of units is to open the air
release valve, then turn on the pump. After you see a continual
stream of water shooting out, close the valve. Air pressure in a
filter has the potential of being very dangerous, therefore
technicians and homeowners must always remember to open the air
release valve when turning on the filter.
