Learn about Pool Filtration Systems

The filter is an essential part of your pool. It is very important that you maintain an efficient filtration system in order to obtain healthy, clean, sparkling water in your spa or pool. The filtration system must be checked periodically to confirm that it is working properly. If you need to replace the filter on your pool, it must be matched to the pump on your pool as well as the size of your pool. Improvements in filtration systems are happening routinely, due to the ongoing developments in technology.

Another important factor in the filtration system is the pool or spa pump. The pump guarantees that the pool/spa water travels through the filter each day, so that the filter can get rid of the pollutants and other impurities quickly.

The filter must be in good working order so that it can "filter out" all of the contaminants that find their way into the water. Some of these contaminants include, pollution, dust, leaves, chemical waste, pollen, mold spores, and bacteria. These impurities can be blown into the water by the
wind. Other pollutants, such as suntan oils, bacteria, viruses, sweat and urine can get into the water by the swimmers themselves.

In order to obtain the correct filter for your pool or spa, you must make sure it is the correct size. To determine the correct size, first compute the volume and capacity of the pool. Then calculate the pool (or spa) flow rate and the filter flow rate. Then review each of the systems to determine which filter is the correct one or most convenient for you to use.
