Leaf rake for your pool

There are different types of leaf rakes, all used to rid the pool of bugs, leaves, and other debris. Most of the better types of nets are comprised of stainless steel mesh and the frames are made of a heavy-duty aluminum. The mesh nets are molded into the frame so that they will not tear or pull out. Most of the nets have a 16-inch wide opening.

Many leaf rakes have a deep net, but the skimmer nets are shallow. Some people find that the skimmer nets are easier to use, but they, of course, will not pick up as much debris at one time.

Cheaper nets are available which are made from plastic (both the net and the frame). Most of the frames are made of a durable plastic that may withstand constant use, however, they do not wear as well as the metal frames. Even though the price of these cheaper plastic skimmers are about one-half the price of a heavy-duty aluminum skimmer, the metal skimmers will last much
longer and will not be nearly as vulnerable to tearing. The cheaper skimmers may tear as you are scooping out an abundance of wet leaves after a windy day. The metal nets will withstand the abuse of constant rubbing along the sides of the swimming pool. The better quality nets are fitted with a gasket made of a rubber type plastic around the edge. This gasket will not split, crack or break as pressure is applied, as will a plastic rake or skimmer.

Many of the skimmers and leaf rakes have a protective finish for a longer lifespan. This finish will also protect your pool walls from marks and nicks.

The telepole can accommodate the leaf rake shank as it properly fits into the telepole and clips in place. It is possible to replace the netting in some of the leaf rakes, as some are made so that you can disassemble them and replace the netting. However, this process can be quite arduous, so you need the patience and time to do so. You may find that it is not worth it to save a few dollars to replace the netting and, instead, opt for a new skimmer or rake.
